Two members of team SONIA attended Embedded System Conference Silicon Valley in San Jose. Our partner for the onboard computer of our robot, Kontron, invited us to present our 2008 prototype.
During these four days, our delegation showcased the 2008 submarine and answered various questions about the project. Also, our ambassadors have taken the opportunity to see the last devellopement in the embedded industry.
Furthermore, during the first day, our two members made a presentation about our project. That presentation was a global overview of the 2008 vehicle and was mainly focused on the electronic of the submarine without neglecting other aspects such as mechanical and software.
Team SONIA would like to thank Suzanne Ieppert and all the Kontron team for their generosity and for giving us that fabulous opportunity.
Team SONIA made their first torpedo test. We were very happy with the result. Judge by yourself.
Today, team SONIA received their first order of circuit boards of the year 2009. We will be soldering and programming for the upcoming week. Major improvements have been made to last year design and we are anxious to test this new electronic design. These are only the first boards of our new system for year 2009.
Team SONIA would like to thank Circuit Imprimés de la Capitale for their time and support !
Pulse is a software solution to manage the installation of Eclipse and its plugins. It
gives an organization the chance to have a standard Eclipse platform that every developers can use. It will download, install and even checkout the code you need, thus improving productivity. With Pulse, the fastidious task of setting up Eclipse is gone!
Genuitec, the creators of Pulse, gave team SONIA a professional license to use their Freelance service. It gives our team a shared Eclipse environment with a fresh checkout of our code base. With Pulse, it is now possible for our software team to be more efficient with the deployment of Eclipse. It also gives a chance for new team members to get familiar with the Eclipse developing environment faster.
The SONIA AUV team wants to thank Genuitec for their support!
Team SONIA is proud to unveil its last-born child : a specialized operating system. Based on "Arch Linux Embedded Project", this new software component is optimized and customized to meet the requirements.
This operating system can be built in two ways : the submarine version or the workstation version. The submarine version contains the bare minimum for our stack of software and hardware components. The workstation version contains a development environment composed of all tools and all the libraries needed for SONIA related development.
Currently, we have started the integration of this new operating system to our environment. The result largely exceeded our expectation. In sum, this new system inscreases our available time for development and facilitate various tasks of our project.
