BlackJack vision algorithm completed
SONIA's vision team started and completed the BlackJack table algorithm last night. You can have a glimpse at our results in our photo gallery. We will be testing the control part of the blackjack task in our all night pool test this upcoming weekend. Development is moving at a steady pace, we hope to have a full mission completed within the next weeks... stay tuned.
During this 4-hour test (on a single set of batteries) in the FINA pool at Ile Ste-Hélène in Montreal, we validated our first milestone, including the following elements on our 2008 AUV platform:
- Vision subsystems with new enhanced cameras
- Treasure detection algorithm
- Navigation and control using the DVL
- Telemetry software with new, more resilient protocol
- Dock-box system with embedded server and multiple power sources
The test was a resounding success and we are awaiting our next major milestone test on May 30t.
Five Pool Tests a Week !
SONIA is back on the summer schedule ! Our 2008 vehicle is completed and we are doing 5 or more pool tests a week. Bugs are found, features are added and our autonomy software is validated in the field. See our Media page for pictures and movie clips as they are added.
ESC Silicon Valley
SONIA AUV was present at Kontron's booth during Embedded Systems Conference, Silicon Valley in San Jose, CA. There we showcased our 2007 vehicle as well as our integration of Kontron's ETX platform modules in the 2008 vehicle.
First major pool test with the 2008 vehicle. The submarine's inertial measurement unit, motors, DVL and depthmeter were tested.
